Because in Lucifer when he had his long hair, no believed he was a guy, and there really was no way to prove that he was if they didn’t believe it from seeing past photos of him.
So for Sherlock, they have him with long hair but also have him shirtless so if anyone questions his gender we can show them the photos at proof.
